BVI sailing vacation by the cabin, on a crewed catamaran

Book one cabin, not the whole boat. Every winter we sail the British Virgin Islands on the catamaran Good Vibrations with a small group of up to 10 guests, a skipper and a first mate. You get your own cabin with an ensuite bathroom, breakfast and lunch cooked on board, and a week of turquoise anchorages from Tortola to The Baths, Jost Van Dyke and Norman Island.

USD 5,500 per cabin, for 1 or 2 guests. That is USD 2,750 per person when you share a cabin with a partner or friend, and the same USD 5,500 if you come alone and want the cabin to yourself.

Our trips begin and end in Hodges Creek Marina, Tortola. We will send you the exact pontoon number of the boat in the WhatsApp group we start before every trip.

The most popular and easiest way to get to Tortola, is to fly to St Thomas airport (STT – U.S.V.I.), and then take a ferry or water taxi, or fly directly to Tortola.

You’ll arrive at the boat on Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM for embarkation in Hodges Creek Marina. We plan to sail on Thursday morning, after we’ve planned the exact itinerary together, taking into account the latest weather conditions and everyone’s preferences.

We arrive back in Tortola on Wednesday morning around 7:30 AM. Disembarkation is at 9:00 AM.

We usually plan the exact itinerary close to the departure, based on the weather conditions, to make sure you have the best possible sailing experience. We include as much of your personal preferences as possible.

What's included with SeaScape Sailing

Our philosophy is simple: no hidden fees. Here’s everything that’s included in the price of your British Virgin Islands shareboat week.

On board

  • Cabin on Good Vibrations, 50′ catamaran | Good Vibrations has five double ensuite cabins, all with airconditioning and USB ports. Bed linens, pillows, and towels included.
  • Skipper and first mate |  Paul knows all the best swim spots, lunchtime coves, and sheltered anchorages for BBQ nights under the stars.
  • Off-grid solar and battery power | Including an inverter, ample for running a CPAP machine all night if needed.

Food & Drinks

  • Daily breakfast buffet | Yogurt, fresh bread that we bake on the boat, granola, honey, cheeses, vegetables and fruit, spreads, fried eggs. Dietary preferences accommodated.
  • All lunches prepared on board | Chicken curry, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, salads, whatever inspiration and preferences suggest. Plenty of fresh veg.
  • Coffee | Coffee machine that can run off-grid. Unlimited coffee and tea.
  • Soft drinks | Coca Cola, ice tea, water (sparkling / still), tonic for gin tonics
  • A generous alcohol welcome pack | Rum punch and beers. It’s a proper Irish-style welcome pack, so it usually stretches a couple of nights. After that it’s bring your own.
  • One BBQ dinner at anchor |  At least one evening in a quiet cove.

Everything else sorted

  • All provisioning handled | No shopping runs, no supermarket detours.
  • Free sailing instruction if you want it | You don’t have to sail at all, but Paul is happy to teach.
  • Paddle board
  • Full selection of masks, snorkels, and flippers
  • All boat running costs | Fuel, final cleaning, electricity, water.
  • All local taxes and marina fees

What's not included

  • Crew gratuity: tipping is customary in the Caribbean. The industry standard is 10–20% of the charter fee, split between skipper and first mate. We mention it up front so there are no surprises.
  • Flights and transfers to and from Tortola
  • Dinners ashore
  • Alcoholic drinks after the welcome pack is finished: bring your own, the crew will gladly stock the fridge

Why sail the British Virgin Islands with SeaScape Sailing?

The BVI are made for sailing. Steady trade winds blow almost every day of the winter, and the islands sit close together, so most sails take an hour or two. That leaves the rest of the day for snorkelling, swimming off the back of the boat and a cold drink in the cockpit as the sun goes down.

Most BVI charters are built for groups who rent a whole boat. If you are a couple, a solo traveller or two friends, that leaves you with a cruise ship or a resort. We do it differently: you book one cabin, and you share the catamaran with a small group of like-minded people, never more than 10.

SeaScape Sailing has been taking guests sailing since 1994. It is still a small, owner-run company: I skipper the trips myself, and the same small crew looks after you from the first coffee to the last anchorage. No call centre, no fleet of 50 boats, just a crew that knows where to find a calm bay when the wind picks up and which beach bar on Jost Van Dyke is worth the dinghy ride.

  • Four reasons guests choose us for the BVI:
You pay by the cabin, so a couple or a solo traveller gets a real sailing vacation without chartering a whole yacht.
  • Small group: up to 10 guests, enough for good company and never crowded.
  • A skipper and a first mate on board, so you never have to sail, cook breakfast or plan the route unless you want to.
  • More included than you’d expect, no hidden fees. The price covers your cabin, crew, breakfast and lunch, boat running costs, taxes and marina fees.

Where we sail in the British Virgin Islands

Every week is different. The exact itinerary depends on the wind, and what the group wants. These are some of the places we return to every season:

  • The Baths, Virgin Gorda: giant granite boulders, tidal pools and sea caves on a white sand beach.
  • Anegada: flat, wild and ringed with coral reefs. Go for the lobster dinner.
  • Jost Van Dyke: home to the famous Soggy Dollar Bar at White Bay, barefoot beach bars and a laid-back island pace.
  • Norman Island and The Indians: two of the best snorkelling spots in the BVI, with caves, coral and an abundance of marine life.
  • The Dogs: another outstanding snorkelling stop, worth the wait for a mooring ball.
  • Quiet anchorages in between: the best evenings are often in a bay with no road, no music and only a handful of boats.

Catamaran Fountaine Pajot Saba 50 – 2020

We love Fountaine Pajot catamarans because they do actually sail really well. And we’re always super keen to get the sails up and the engines off. We know this boat very well as we sailed it during the 2025-2026 season. The catamaran has 5 guest cabins for 2 people (all doubles with ensuite bathroom) and can accommodate up to 10 people. A 6th cabin is accommodated by the skipper and first mate. View all technical specifications (pdf)

For share boat, please mention which cabin you would like to book (see boat layout photo below). Cabins 1, 4, and 5 are the largest and will usually sell out first. On the moment of booking, we ask for a deposit payment of 50% of the charter fee. The remaining 50% is due 90 days before departure. You can read our full terms & conditions and cancellation policy here.

Sample Itinerary

After breakfast we’ll be heading out to get an early start and tack up the Sir Francis Drake Channel to The Baths on the southern end of Virgin Gorda. You can spend the whole day exploring the tunnels, caves and crystal-clear pools. Enjoy a little lunch on board before heading back across the channel towards Marina Cay for the night.

We sail north to Saba Rock and Oil Nut Bay area both gorgeous stops for chilling and swimming, tonight we BBQ on board!

If the weather permits, today we sail to Anegada. In addition to the beautiful white beaches, you will fall in love with the Roseate Flamingos, rare rock iguanas, manmade conch islands and splendid plant species like sea lavender. The fantastic outer reef, Horseshoe Reef, is rich in marine life and perfect for snorkeling or diving and dotted with shipwrecks. Anegada is the most scenic water sports playground in the region, especially for kiteboarders and paddle boarders alike. And for Dinner…? Lobster of course!
We sail southwest to the Dog islands, the great Dog famous for the amazing snorkeling. We have lunch there before casting off for our overnight stop at either the Scrub Islands or a mooring ball at Marina Cay. Dinner ashore somewhere or perhaps on the boat, we let you choose!
As the sun rises, we’ll have an early start sailing west, Towards Jost Van Dyke, We’re stopping a for lunch and morning snorkel at Monkey Point, Guana Island. Monkey Point is another national park, with an abundance of marine life. Yellowtail snappers, bluestriped grunts and yellow jacks, along with turtles and tarpon call this home. After lunch we continue to Great Harbor on Jost Van Dyke, home to Foxy’s where they are well known for live music and barbecues on the weekends. With this in mind, it makes for a great stop for the night. if anyone is up for it, we’ll take the dinghy and head around the point into White Bay. Enjoy a ‘Painkiller’ at the Soggy Dollar Bar before heading back around to Great Harbor for dinner.

We depart Great harbour and sail south to the Indians, this is also a really famous snorkeling spot, in fact one of the best in the BVI’s. We’ll hang out here for a few hours before heading to Norman Island, where the famous floating Willy T bar is.

We depart very early to be back in Hodges Creek Marina around 8:00 AM. Sadly it’s almost time to disembark. We say goodbye for now but not forever hopefully!
