I was recently on a sail trip to the Dodecanese Islands aboard the Artemis with our captain, Diane. Eight ladies were on the Artemis and none of us had... read more sailed before. Diane instructed those of us willing to learn. We were raising the sails, taking the wheel, setting the anchor and docking...we did it all! Had a great time and learned a lot. Felt very accomplished and enjoyed the trip immensely.
Some of our group knew each other and others became new friends. Although we tried to include everyone on outings or meals, each had the choice to explore or dine on their own. I was on the trip with Janice B and have to say I had a very different experience than her. I guess you get what you put in. I had a lovely time Diane, and I will remember this trip and the wonderful experiences enjoyed by me and my friends. Wonderful visiting the different islands and seeing all the different sites without the crowds.
November 9, 2022I booked with SeaScape on a bit of a whim, as I am often a single traveler and love to be on and in the salt water. If you're looking... read more for a time machine, the waters between Crete and Rhodes are where you should sail. The Dodecanese.
The first day we sailed into a great little sheltered cove on Kalymnos, with just a very few small houses, a couple of tavernas, and goats looking down on us from the surrounding hills. The folks at the taverna knew Ray well and gave us a wonderful open air dinner looking down at the moorings. A great start to the trip, we played in the water and had a lovely dinner hill side. Like a step back in time!
My favorite island stop was Patmos, we explored Patmos by razors the first afternoon, and then first thing in the morning we explored the ("Revelations") Cave and the Monastery area which was STUNNING. Some of us shared in Greek orthodox Mass too. I can see why John was so inspired.
Another favorite was the tiny island of Marathi, where we watched the sunset from an old deserted village on a hill, before heading to yet another delicious taverna. The folks and food were amazing and we had options to grabs a little room there too, as some of us wanted AC and a shower.
Diane and team made sure the week was a fantastic experience. And the bonus- both boats were filled with the most interesting, cool, fun diverse folks! We have stayed in touch since the trip too. We all did our own thing at times too- different spots for meals, sightseeing and even sailed to different spots before meeting up again before sunset. Bring bug spray for the days when the wind is light, and a portable fan for your berth too.
Thanks Diane and my brother Matt! See you again soon.
November 9, 2022Another point of view... - When reading the previous review from Janice, I had just one question...were we on the same trip? The reason I ask is that I had a completely different experience,... read more and if I could pack my bags and jump back on that boat tomorrow, I would in a heartbeat! We were on the same trip. My group was on the sister ship, and we sailed from port to port together, and my perspective is quite opposite from the one given by Janice.
I agree with Janice that the hands on experience was fantastic. Everyone had the opportunity to chip in and be as active and involved as they wanted to be. What the reviewer failed to mention when stating her disappointment about having the sails only up two of the six days ( which I think is an exaggeration), was that determination was made based on the experience and knowledge of our skippers. I know that they consulted every evening about the next day's conditions, and what the appropriate measure would be. She also failed to mention that during our week of sailing, there were some extreme weather conditions, which are totally out of our skippers' control. What was in their control, however, was our safety. She also failed to mention that on her boat, the only person with sailing experience was the captain, Diane. She also left out the detail that on one day we had winds up to 24 mph. Even then we had the sails partially unfurled. To throw the sails wide open with an inexperienced (but amazingly willing to learn!!) crew would have been nothing short of irresponsible! We were clearly advised prior to our trip that the sailing and destinations were subject to change based on weather conditions and skipper experience. This is sailing, not the Love Boat.
As far as additional expenses, we were clearly advised about that as well. Every day, there were provisions for breakfast and lunch. I know for certain that nobody was hungry on our boat! Our captain even made a delicious lunch for us one day, and we took turns the rest of the time. We knew that we would be paying for our own meals on shore. The reviewer also failed to mention that October is the end of the season, and many of the tavernas we closed or getting ready to close. Yet, in every port, we were greeted with enthusiasm, and the hosts were so very welcoming! And the food! I'm still dreaming of some of the wonderful dishes we consumed! How could she forget the beautiful afternoon sitting at a beachside restaurant on Patmos, or the amazing breakfast overlooking the harbor after touring the monastery? How could she forget the little family owned and run tavernas where the entire family chipped in to provide some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted, and at ridiculously cheap prices. Believe me, my group went to Santorini after leaving the boat, and experienced over priced food that could not even compare to the wonderful culinary experience we had on these tiny islands! Yes, at times we had to figure out how to divide the bill, but really? If that really such a big deal? Would you find a restaurant in the US that would write 15 different checks? I think not. i should also mention that I sat across from the reviewer one night at dinner, where she asked for clean utensils four separate times. Just saying...my first set of utensils were clean.
If you were to survey the rest of our group, their thoughts would be similar to mine. This was truly one of the most amazing vacations I have ever been on, and I travel a lot. If you are looking for a cruise ship, this is not for you. However, if you are looking for an amazing adventure , under the guidance of a dedicated crew, I recommend you try Seascape. I will again, for sure!
In closing, I feel it is important to clarify that an unfavorable review, especially if it is not accurate, can be damaging. The effort and time that goes into creating this experience for guest is unimaginable. I truly felt that Diane and Matthew would have done anything in their power to make our sailing experience everything we dreamed of, and they did.
Happy sailing!!!
November 8, 2022Absolutely loved my trip! - I sailed with Diane and Mathew in Aug/Sept and I would jump back on that boat tomorrow! First thing I would do - I would give them BIG HUGS! They... read more made my first sailing /shareboat experience absolutely one of my best vacations ever!! I loved learning a little bit of sailing, seeing the Dodecanese from the sea and meeting new people from the world over! We would stop each night at a different island (big and small) and have time to explore or sit and have a cocktail or take a swim! We ate each night at family owned Taverna and the experience was unmatched. The views, the water, the company - all of it was wonderful! I am still in touch with the folks from my trip and I hope our paths cross again!
Here is the catch - it's actually sailing! Its not a cruise! Its a shareboat - you have to share - remember sharing... the world should do more of it. You are sailing with strangers or if you are open to it - new friends. Its close quarters - again with new friends if you are open to it. I loved hanging out with the people I met but no one made me! People could really do whatever they wanted... split checks at dinner or not, eat dinner with the group or not, make friends for life or not. Your choice. If you want a solo vacation look elsewhere - this is a wonderful, once in a lifetime (maybe not! hopefully!) experience. I reccomend it to all my friends who are loving, open, sharing, fun and love new experiences type of folks. Get it...
Also read all the stuff Diane sends you and is on the website - it is exactly as she says. Self select out if this is not for you - PLEASE!
November 8, 2022The Trip of a lifetime. - Reading Janice's review was a total shock to me. I was on the same trip. The company flawlessly delivered all that was promised. Janice as well... read more as all the trip participants was well informed before the trip that the dinners would be at local restaurants at your cost. There was no coercion to join the group for dinner but everyone did because each of the dining experiences was so wonderful. Everyone was informed countless times that breakfast and lunch were provisioned and dinner was on our own. To be clear, this is not a luxury cruise where everything is provided and prepared for you. It is like camping at sea. Everyone prepares their own meals and cleans up afterward. This is part of the charm. Everyone is on the same team.
It may not be a trip for everyone. You have to be adventurous. And you have to understand it is not a cruise. It is a sailboat. We went to great pains to make sure everyone knew what the trip is and is not.
Knowing how to sail was not a requirement. Participation in the sailing chores also was not a requirement. But most people were eager to learn and participate and as a result learned a lot.
Having said that, I cannot say enough good things about the preparedness the captains went through to make our trip the adventure of a life time.
November 8, 2022Great experience - I was on the trip with one of the, previous reviewers, except that I was on the other boat. I had a great time sailing with seascape. The... read more skippers were very accommodating and emphasized the guest's safety while we were on the trip. I felt very comfortable and relaxed with them in charge. I want to mention that I own a sailboat and have about twenty years, worth of experience in boating. As far as food on the boat it was very fresh and healthy. We mostly made our own breakfast and lunches, but that was known before we went on the trip, but this gave us a sense of being part of the team...Working together helped us bond closer. Going on a hands on sailboat trip was what I wanted, and this was pointed out on the Seascape brochure before anyone was on the trip. When it became time to go to dinner, just about everybody asked where the group is eating.. It seemed to be something that we all wanted to do. There was no pressure from the skippers to eat at any place. I must admit that at on one, small island that we anchored at, there was only one restaurant to eat at anyway. The food was very good there. When we docked at the larger islands, we had to use taxi's to get around, but anyone who has traveled knows that your going to incur extra expenses while on a trip, that is common sense. All in all the people at Seascape provided a very wonderful and unforgettable experience. thank you
November 8, 2022Loved the sailing experience! I also enjoyed the 'all hands on deck' approach to this trip.....a little like a working vacation/holiday. Very disappointed that we only had the sails up... read more two of the six days, with the lack of wind, or wind in the wrong direction. Another concern is with 'nasty $$ surprises'. (noted apparently, there are none according to the website) While the trip promotes breakfast and lunch provided onboard, each individual or group should be encouraged to help themselves, or establish a method of agreement for eating these meals. Dinners on each of the islands can be problematic, from limited to no options at the end of the season, to cost division expectations. There appeared to be an underlying requirement for everyone to eat together (Restaurant owner, or manager expecting to feed X number) For some who might prefer a break from the sailing group, this could be an issue. The expense of the chosen restaurants can also be an issue for those on a budget, especially when having the added costs of Taxi's to get there.
In reading other reviews of 3 stars or less, I found a similar experience. While lucky enough to be with an all female group, Diane at the helm, the other boat had the drunken crusty sailer.
November 6, 2022My friend and I had an amazing time at the Dodecanese Islands. One spectacular week that I would recomend to anyone that would like to have a different and exciting... read more vacation. We have never sail bafore and Captain John and our companions were great! We learn and enjoy the time with new friends! everyone was great.
The time on the boat was great, John and Diane were very flexible with the time so we were able to enjoy the islands! We did a couple of stops to swim and that was unique!
August 23, 2022My family and I spent a perfect week in July sailing the Dodecanese Islands with our skipper Jon Blue aboard the Seascape boat Angelina. It was everything and more than... read more I had hoped for. Jon let us sail as much as we wanted, included us in the daily itinerary decisions and introduced us to a world of discovery and exploration that only sailing freely aboard your own boat with a top notch skipper can supply. The boat, the food and our hired host were also first rate. Some trips you take change you forever and this was one of those trips! Also have to thank Diane the owner for making things easy from from start to finish. She even arranged a ride back to the airport after we disembarked. If you’re looking for an unique sailing vacation with people who treat you like family then Seascape should be your first choice. We LOVED this trip!️

Sailing with SeaScape was everything I ever imagined and more. On the second morning of our trip, I awoke early and looked out of the boat, Pink skies were on... read more the horizon and I hurried up to deck to watch the sun rise. Eventually it rose, as we were docked in a little bay on the north end of Kalymnos, Greece; I couldn’t help myself, tears of joy slowly fell down my cheeks. It’s such a spiritual feeling being out on the water, traveling to places you’ve only dreamed of going, and barely even imagined existed. My wife and I sailed for a week along the Agean Sea with Diane. The memories will be with us forever. Diane was the perfect captain. Her knowledge of sailing, good times, and friendships in expertly hidden port stops is remarkable. Diane taught us to sail and didn’t mind that we came aboard with no prior experience. She treated us like family and we will treasure the week we spent with her for the rest of our lives. I hope that we can find the time to join SeaScape in Thailand in the near future. This is the perfect kind of vacation for us and we just can’t wait to go again. Anyone with an adventurous spirit that is anxious to see parts of the world that aren’t overly traveled . . . spend a week or more with the SeaScape crew and experience life in island time.
July 21, 2022My final evening of the most amazing adventure of my life accompanied by music by Peter Green, Neil Young and Jerry Garcia under a spectacular moon. Grateful isn’t even a... read more strong enough word for the love I’m feeling.
My sailing mates, Dino, John and Levi, thank you for being here and making it all happen and teaching me what you know of the seas and more. This was a true learning experience and I’m now hungry for more. TY
Great thanks to Diane and Ray for reaching out for help to make their season exceptional. I hope we reached all you’re expectations and more. It was truly a pleasure to work for you.
I believe I’ve made friendships that will last a lifetime and a love for my brother that couldn’t ever compare to life in the norm.
I’m a firm believer in everything happens just as it should and when. So go with the flow as I always say and take the the path that pleases you. You will never fail. You can only learn a better way.
Go wherever the wind blows you and be grateful.
June 24, 2022I don't even know where to start describing what an amazing experience this 8 days sailing trip was!
Everything was just spot on! The crew, the food, the boat,... read more the group onboard and the itinerary that was just so optimized to visit each new spot to either catch the sunset or snorkle without big crowds as we ankered once day trip boats had left.
Despite having travelled quite a lot before this trip's sceneries really did impressed me!
Even If you've been in Thailand before this trip beats everything you've ever seen or done!
If you haven't visited Thailand before this will definitely be an experience that will be with you forever!
I highly recommend Diane and her sailing trips!
April 12, 2022I spent a wonderful adventure filled 8 days with Diane and her team sailing around the islands of southern Thailand.
Diane is an extremely competent and experienced... read more skipper and has over the years come up with a unique and incredibly well planned itinerary, taking us through the lesser known beauty spots of the islands. The places she took us to started off amazing and got progressively more mind blowing as the trip progressed.
She is also amazingly adept at matching personalities onto her trips, a skill she says she's honed over the years. Although it was quite nerve wracking, the feeling of going away for 8 days with strangers, particularly as a bit of an introvert, it's easy to take time on your own if you need it and the boat is surprisingly spacious. It was a really nice mix of personalities though and a pleasure getting to know the others over the course of the 8 days, which flew past.
The accommodation was lovely and very comfy. A huge bed, with a large ensuite bathroom. It was surprising how many of us Nyami could comfortably fit.
The food was also exceptional. The onboard chef was constantly cooking real feasts for us from dawn to dusk. The meals were buffet style. Typically Fruit, toast, eggs, coffee, juice for breakfast and for lunch and dinner two full buffets with an array of exceptionally delicious food. It was quite honestly some of the best Thai food I've ever had.
I've got some fantastic memories from the trip and can't fault anything at all. Everything was impeccable.
April 6, 2022Had an awesome 8 day trip with Diane and her crew in Thailand recently - could not have gone better! Everything from the food to the itinerary was incredible... read more and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend the trip to anyone looking for a unique Thailand adventure.

The food, the boat and the crew were amazing and I highly recommend going on a trip with seascape sailing! Diane is a wonderful captain and certainly knows the area so so well that your itinerary will be just be incredible .
April 5, 2022Had an incredible time sailing around the Andaman with Seascape! The places were stunning, the snorkeling was brilliant...but most of all the people were amazing. Diane was the perfect captain,... read more her sailing experience shines through. Nui (the chef) was on another level when it came to the food but as a person she was also hilarious, with her adorable little giggle. "You lose weight, I lose my job"...you won't be going hungry. All the other crew members were clearly very well chosen because we had a great time and made friends I'll no doubt have for a very long time. Adventures every day, stunning sunrises and sunsets. I would thoroughly recommend this to anybody - you won't regret it!
April 5, 2022We have sailed 3 times with Seascape. Twice for a week in Thailand and once for 2 weeks in the Dodecanese and Turkish coast. Greece was our first trip... read more and we enjoyed it so much we did the other two in Thailand,. We sailed in Thailand because its easier from Oz but we intend to do another trip in Greece at some stage.
Comparing Seascape to a sailing experience we had last year in Croatia, chalk and cheese. These guys hav, in my opinion, the perfect formula. They engage with all their guests, and are a direct and significant part of the experience, its not just a job for them. They are passionate and extremely capable sailors, we experienced a typhoon in Thailand and they were up all night monitoring the situation, their safety ethics were extraordinary and we felt safe in their hands. They are also good cooks except in Thailand where they provide THE best cook for the trip, her name is Nui. They are also really good company, Rays jokes are to be experienced. How much you engage with the sailing is entirely up to you, but you couldn't get better teachers. You can just sit back and relax, or get really hands on. There is no pressure.
The yachts are extremely comfortable, And we have been on all 3. They are clean and well maintained. Ray is an excellent engineer so if something does go wrong, he's your man. The programs they work out, visiting lesser know and off the beaten track places are great. We have very fond memories of all 3 trips and will sail with them again.

November 1, 2019I booked with SeaScape Sailing seeking to relive a bare boat charter experience in Greece done forty years ago with friends. SeaScape's website was very specific about... read more the experience being offered, and it sounded exactly like what I was looking for. There is a lot of information on the website that sets out accurately and fairly in advance exactly the experience to be expected. The TripAdvisor reviews confirmed that the cruises people had taken lived up to the descriptions on the website. Our own experience fully confirmed the validity of all of the glowing reviews these trips had received.
My wife and I and another couple, long time friends, took a week long September cruise in the Dodecanese along with two other customers. Our Captain was Ray, and the first mate was his daughter, Katie. From the first meeting on Leros to a last beachfront farewell dinner a week later, the experience was simply great. Ray really knew his boat, really knew the sailing waters, and really knew the ports and their sights and tavernas. He was extremely conscientious on a day to day and hour to hour basis in laying out for us the best available options for each day's activities. I'll just set out a few of our highlights. .
The first day brought extremely strong winds. Ray laid out the sailing options, reassured us as to the boat's capabilities; a few hours sail brought us in to a great little sheltered cove on Kalymnos, with just a very few houses, a couple of tavernas, and goats looking down on us from the surrounding hills. The folks at the taverna knew Ray well and gave us a wonderful open air dinner looking down at the moorings. A great start to the trip, and exactly the type of harbor side taverna I remembered from forty years prior.
A favorite island stop was Patmos, an experience that started with a spectacular mooring job, getting our stern secured to a space on the quay that was only a couple of yards wide. Once Ray somehow pulled this feat off, he had great suggestions as to how to explore Patmos by car the first afternoon, and then guided us in exploring the ("Revelations") Cave and the Monastery area.
Still another favorite was our stop at the tiny island of Marathi, where we watched the sunset from an old deserted village on a hill, before heading to yet another great taverna dinner, with yet another classic Greek Islands view over the bay.
The week was filled with comparable treats. It was a fantastic experience.

What an experience - to be able to get up to watch the sunrise, go for a swim in the ocean before breakfast (and again after breakfast). When we are ready, we set sail for our next destination, enjoy a wonderful lunch prepared by Diane (trade off is that we have to clean up - small price to pay if you ask me!). We also loved being able to have a hands on experience with the sailing (as best we could as novices) in working the sails and helping around the yacht. In the evening we take the dinghy over to the other group on the Angelina for happy hour before heading to shore to have an amazing dinner in a small taverna. I wish I could do it all again tomorrow!
So much fun, lots of laughs, so many amazing memories and some lifelong friends made in the process! Highly recommended!!

From the moment we stepped on board we were laughing with our captain Ray (nicknamed 2% for the validity of his stories). And the way he repeated back our lovely NZ accent. Plus the other boat captained by Diane with a mainly Aussie contingent. Friendly competition was on!!
We saw so many idyllic places tucked away from the main centres, all with tavernas. Also had a couple of very tasty meals cooked on board.
You could get as involved as you wanted to with the sailing except when we birthed at a marina and then all hands needed!
It was a great group of people and we’re still in touch.

They helped us onboard and offered us refreshments as we received an informative orientation of the beautiful yacht and all of the adventures that we would share in the week ahead. Ray and Diane adopted easily to all of the diverse languages and accents on board and went out of their way to impart their knowledge and shared history of the small, beautiful, local islands. They took us to exquisite bays for leisurely breakfasts and lunches and always selected marvelous dinner spots steps from the sea. We had friendly competitions with our partner yacht, including synchronized swimming and moderate cocktail games, one of which took place in a hide-a-way tavern, only know to locals. We sang our hearts out and had tons of belly laughs as we ventured from island to island. My only regret is that I didn’t book a two-week trip, but there’s always next summer! I plan to return again and again and highly recommend to anyone who wants to explore the southeastern Aegean Sea. You will not be disappointed by the Greek islands, medieval castles, Byzantine churches, beaches and archaeological sites. Thank you, Diane and Ray for another dream holiday!!
September 27, 2019I could not fault this holiday. 10 days sailing around the Greek and Turkish islands in calm waters with light winds. What’s not to love you think but this was... read more special. We visited the lesser travelled island which this company specialised in. Some had only a taverna on . It was so beautiful. Both boats were about 54 foot with five cabins, all with en-suite. The meal arrangement was that breakfast was a help yourself with fruit, toast , eggs etc all available. Lunch we put together salads and platters of cheese and meat or we cooked depending on what we felt like. Dinner we got off the boat and were taken to great tavernas ( sometimes there was only one) so we experienced local food and company. In the day we would sail for an hour or so then spend the afternoon and evening at a location so we could explore , swim or lie on a beach. It was all so relaxing. The group on both boats were great people we all got on famously encouraged by the happy hour each night on alternate boats , which was part of the package. The owners Diane and Ray captained the boats, they are lay back and fun. It was a perfect holiday and we plan to travel with them again either in Greece or on one of their Thai or Philippines trips. I can’t imagine anyone could do a better job . You get to sail the boat or just relax , it’s up to you... perfect!

I booked with SeaScape Sailing seeking to relive a bare boat charter experience in Greece done forty years ago with friends.
September 1, 2019My friend and I were travelling around Europe for 2 months and really wanted to have a Greek Island sailing trip. A friend had done one 5 years and totally... read more recommended it, so a quick check on TripAdvisor and we were booked. Thanks for a lovely experience Ray and Diane …

September 1, 2019My wife and I sailed with SeaScape in Greece back in 2000 and we have since always dreamed of another trip. Finally, 19 years and two kids later, we embarked... read more on an amazing sailing adventure in Thailand.
The booking and pre-trip communication with Lora was smooth and painless. Lora and Diane made sure we had all the information and details to assure that we packed the right things and knew what to expect traveling to this part of the world.
They arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport and bring us to the meeting point. We felt like VIP’s having a driver waiting with our name on a sign outside of baggage claim. Our air-conditioned minibus was comfortable and flawlessly navigated the crazy Phuket traffic. Once we arrived at the marina, our bags were magically transferred to the boat while we enjoyed a drink and had a briefing about our upcoming week.
Our week-long itinerary was perfectly planned so that we got to see all the highlights of Thailand yet avoid the crowds that can develop if you show up at the wrong time of day to many of the popular sites. There are many, many day-tour boats and dive boats that come from Phuket, so timing is critical in order to enjoy the sites free of the crowds. Seascape has this down perfectly!
Amadeus is a well-appointed and comfortable catamaran that is the perfect type of sailboat for sailing around the islands south of Phuket. It was a nice feature that the boat was stocked with paddleboards, kayaks and snorkeling gear that was at our disposal at no additional charge. It was even nicer that the crew would get everything out and ready and then put everything away delivering truly 1st class, VIP service.
The crew had expert knowledge about the best places for all activities and were always helpful in planning out our activities for each day. I won’t go into detail about the itinerary because the SeaScape website covers this in detail. I will say that the pictures they have on their website do not do it justice. Thailand and the waters of the Andaman Sea are breathtaking. You MUST see it in person!
The other stand out part of this trip is the amazing food prepared each day by the on-board chef. Every meal was fantastic, and they expertly catered to my wife’s gluten restrictions and my vegetarian diet. They capitalized on the local fruit, produce and seafood to provide the best cuisine Thailand has to offer. Not only was each meal amazing, but it was also even more amazing that everything was taken care of by the crew. They set the table, they served the food, they cleaned up. We felt like royalty!
We loved our trip. We went in April and the weather was HOT! This made it ideal to spend much of our days in the water enjoying the sea life and easygoing Thailand lifestyle. Many nights we slept on the decks, under the stars and enjoyed the warm night breeze. Endless memories were made on this trip. Thank you to the entire SeaScape team for thinking of every detail to make our trip such a success. I hope it will not be another 19 years until we join you again!

This is not a luxury yacht, but if you are interested in seeing some beautiful Greek islands on a sailboat with a knowledgeable skipper, I would highly recommend SeaScape sailing and this trip.
